Flowers

Flowers

SolidWorks, 3D Printing

I modeled and printed this bouquet of flowers for a friend performing in a musical. It was a fun project because I modeled a more organic shape in SolidWorks. The flowers consisted of the flower head and stems. The top of the flower snapped onto the stem, which had a modular design in which it could be made longer or shorter by snapping additional stem pieces together. I’ve noticed that since the connected pieces were circular, I was able to get accurate snap-fits with a small tolerance. I also created a vase, using a revolved spline. I first attempted to create a vase by shelling a loft between various shapes on parallel planes, but didn’t end up liking the aesthetic. So, I instead created a spline of my desired side profile and then revolved it to get a solid, which I then shelled. The best part of this project was getting to present it to my friend after his amazing performance.
